My apartment is so unbelievable stale!  But it's 24F (-4C)  outside so I can't leave the windows open.  Gah!  It smells like cat food and dirty clothes.

Oh, and you best not be trying to reach me tonight between 9 - 10 pm Pacific.  SPN tonight!

I keep a box of Arm & Hammer baking soda for the freezer in my car so it doesn't gather smells, a ploy adopted when I was a pizza delivery driver. I got really tired of the car smelling like dead pizza, ya know?

I don't know if it can do a whole apartment, but it can't hurt to throw one in on top of the clothes in the hamper, and set one next to the food bowls. I use the freezer one to avoid spillage - it also increases the surface area and makes it more effective.

Good luck!

I opened the door to my deck for a few minutes this evening but it's 28 so I closed it back up soon. I just need to air the place out. My apartment has great seals which is good since it's cheap to heat in the winter but get stagnant if I keep it shut up too long. Plus, cat fur everywhere! =)

The good seals would make the baking soda work better, then.

My house turns 100 this year, so I don't usually consider how a building with good seals will react. There's just no point in it for me.
