I just got back from Toys R Us.  My friend's kid will be 2 on Sunday, so I was invited to his party.  Us younger kids gotta stick together!  Well, he's into farms and farm animals and most stuff is kinda, well, girly.  I was trying to find gender neutral toys.  I came across this:

Remember these?  I loved these.  They have remakes of all of them- Farm, School House, Airplane and Ferry.  Too Cool.  Almost makes me wish I had kids.

Almost

I think I know what I'm getting my nephew - nevermind that he's too little, the adults can play with it...

The best part of those toys are they last forever. Everyone can play then when your nephew is old enough, he can have it

Oh that looks sooo fun. We're lucky because we found a ton of classic little people at a garage sale when Kenzie was little for like a buck or something so she's got the CLASSIC ones ;)

How cool is that? I loved those things. I think we had one in kindergarten that I always grabbed. So fun.

Little People! Oh I remember these from my childhood! My best friend had the Family Home and in kindergarten we had the car park. I loved playing with it!!! Today I think that it's pretty much the only thing from Fisher Price that I'd still buy for my (god)children. Everything else is much to colourful and confusing for kids, too many electronical gadgets; light and music and whatnot - horrible! I prefer buying toys for the kids that are made from wood, but the Little People are still cute!

Yeah, I didn't want to get them any more of the noisy toys. Their 4 year old has a ton of those, so the little one got hand-me-downs and they are loud.
The Little People toys are the best!

We had the Barn, School House, parking garage and 2 different Houses. I don't think we had the airplane and I know we didn't have the ferry.

I think my mom still has them in a closet somewhere for when the 'great grandkids' come to visit. She kept them for the grandkids, but they are all grown up now.

We even have some of the people that are still wooden (before they switched to plastic). The little blonde girl with pigtails and in blue was my favorite. I always pretended she was me (I was very blonde when I was little).

Those are the best toys. When I was young, they were just coming out with electronic toys (late 70s early 80s) but I preferred these toys. The wooden ones are the best.
There are a lot of those toys that they are bringing back. The had Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys (both wooden) but the 2 year old is too young. Maybe in a few years

omg I so played with these when I was a kid!!! We had the people house and all of the cars: an ambulance, a mail truck, a jeep, an suv that pulled the camper, and a giant boat house to play with in the bath - those were great fun! I think my mom has saved them, they are stored in a closet somewhere. :D

They were the best toys! So much better than the noisy plastic toys. My fave was always stuffed animals, but these toys were also so much fun. I see that a lot of the older toys are coming back.
