Britrail pass question

Anyone familiar with Britrail passes?  I want to go from London to Glasgow and wind my way down the country (If I don't end up going to Germany, that is).  Anyone know if this is a good idea?:  pass

I was thinking about doing the 4 day pass.

I've never heard of a Britrail pass, so I can't give you any advice I'm afraid
