I have my subscribed threads (cons and the Shep whump thread) bookmarked so I generally don't have to deal with the rest of GW, although I did have to post some thoughts on the SGA/SG-Ew crossover and then quickly left.
I don't even go to the ole thunk thread. But in general, GW is not a pleasant place for a McKay fan. Does no one but us see humor in Rodney? Plus, the actor who plays McKay is hot!
Forums, yeah, weird places, and yet, against better knowledge, one does go back there again every now and then, only to see that it's still a weird place.
What happened in your case?
When I quit GW and other forums I suddenly felt so much less stressed! :D Then, a while back, I posted again in a forum (not SciFi related) and it ended in a not so nice discussion in which I didn't even want to get involved in the first place. So I stayed away from forums again. Now, just a few days ago, I went to the GW forum again after, don't know, two years of absence or so, just to refresh my profile. I looked at the McKay thunk and for a second all the memories of our "golden times" there made me really happy. Then I read some of the new posts and left again in a heartbeat. Over and done with. *g*
I only spent one look at the crossover-thread than I left that thing. It's better for the character I believe ;). So, don't be worry about it. Let Rodney be in your memory and do not go there. *hugs*
People are so mean over there now. You can't have an opinion without someone ripping you apart. Doesn't matter what the opinion is- they are out for blood there. Not fun.
