I deleted my Facebook for a reason - it wanted to stick its dirty little online fingers into too much of my business. At least, I believe I deleted it and I'm not going to attempt to log back in and reactivate it accidentally. I don't do any Yahoo! groups except a few fandom groups I foolishly said I'd help mod and I don't use any of their networking tools or Google's for that matter. I did finally obtain a Twitter account recently that I rarely remember to access and will probably delete.
Basically, the only two accounts I want to cross-post between are LJ and DW and I have it set so I have to deliberately select to crosspost.
LJ has just changed the rules - again.
The way LJ has setup crossposting of comments is annoying because I don't want to see those items on my comment box even though I haven't enabled them. I can't accidentally crosspost because I did not go to http://www.livejournal.com/manage/setti ngs/?cat=extensions and enable those accounts.
The way LJ has setup crossposting of comments could violate my privacy on f-locked posts if someone on my f-list chooses to enable the options and deliberately selects the option on a comment to bypass the security on my post.
Let me just say, if you are the type of person who would deliberately select the option on a comment to bypass the security on my post, then I really don't want you on my f-list. To me, that is the equivalent of cut/paste of an f-locked entry. You just don't do that.
If you think your comment to me deserves a public venue, then post it as an entry in your LJ. I've done that on occasion for a public post. If you do that for an f-locked entry, then you will have to deal with the fallout from breaking confidentiality.
Pretty simple, really.
Until LJ provides the capability to block the repost of comments on an f-locked entry, then the onus is on you.
If you choose to enable the options, you are choosing to accept the risk of negative consequences.
I don't f-lock many of my entries, but when I do I expect those people who have access will not be stupid and spread my entries around. If someone is stupid enough to do so, then they will be denied access.
I like to believe the best of people.
Please don't make me change my mind about you.

From LJ's release notes:
* Once you enable Facebook and/or Twitter Connect, only your public LiveJournal posts (those marked as "Everyone") will default to cross-post, but you can override this on a per-post basis beneath the text box.
* If you set your default to cross-post comments, ALL of your comments, including screened and Friends Only comments, can be cross-posted whenever you choose. Only public comments, however, will be preselected to cross-post. If you wish to cross-post a Friends Only or screened comment, you will need to select the cross-posting option manually when you post the comment. Of course, you can override your settings on a per-comment basis, so you have complete control over whether to cross-post each and every comment.
* If you edit a post or comment after it has been cross-posted, it will not revise the post on Facebook and/or Twitter.
Yes, you may repost this. :-)
